And just like that we are back.
It has been a while since our last “outing”. After Rue Collinge decided to leave Fragmented Voices earlier this year, we decided to turn the situation into an opportunity, for which we needed time to re-group and re-think our strategies.
We had to go back to the drawing board and perhaps also back to the original ideas that led us to starting the magazine and the small publishing house. We wanted to find a niche on the market, give voice to those who find it hard to be heard and publish what we ourselves want to read. The journey back to our roots was really important because it made us question who we are and decide who we want to be.
The Covid years were an existential struggle for many of us and we exhausted ourselves trying to keep our heads above water without giving much thought to where we were actually going. Now, thanks to the much-needed break, we know.
What can you expect?
First of all, the relaunch for the magazine is planned for January at which point we will reopen our submission lines. Our magazine will be published once a week and will also feature authors from different parts of the globe that we find interesting.
We will venture into a new territory and produce podcasts and videos to keep the dialogue going.
And finally, our book publishing strategy is changing. The “Big Books”, our thematic anthologies, are a thing of the past. Instead, we will focus on literary translations and books by individual authors.
One of the reasons we decided not to continue with anthologies is that the market is oversaturated with them. It seems like pouring a glass of water into a vast ocean with little effect. Instead, we want to make the voices in the literary choir heard and make them count in a meaningful way.
Stay tuned for our publications and for new exciting authors that we will introduce to you.
Keep smiling, keep reading, keep creating.
With love,
Natalie
